The online retailer chose this carrier, not me.

They lost my shipment (a big double shower door--maybe it slipped down between the sofa cushions?), gave me the runaround on the phone for several days (and never updated their online tracking page), and finally admitted the unit was lost only after the dealer's Customer Service rep called them. Dealer promised to send a replacement--let's see if it gets here.

I assume big retailers (Home Depot, Target) use them because they're cheap but then those retailers wind up having to re-ship, submit claims to Estes etc.

Wouldn't it be simpler (and not much more expensive) to hire a competent, well-run carrier in the first place? I'm planning to write Home Depot and suggest they would do themselves and their customers a favor by switching to a responsible carrier and running these incompetent jerks out of business.
